The 30-year-old actress is up for the award for Favorite Movie Actress - Drama/Adventure for her work in Machete. She is up against Penelope Cruz, Zoe Saldana, her Machete co-star Michelle Rodriguez, and Rosario Dawson.The Alma Awards honors Latinos in the entertainment field and will air on NBC on Friday (August 16).

Jessica alba among the most successful Latin ladies in showbusines on the 15th anniversary of the magazine Latina.

 The stunning cover shoot took nine months of planning, along with seven photo shoots, 100 red designer dresses and more than $10 million worth of designer jewellery.

Jessica Alba, whose father is Mexican-American, discusses the role of Latin women in her life.

'There [are] a lot of really strong, really cool, completely dynamic women that are Latina that young women can look up to,' she says.

'I love that because I certainly didn't have those role models when I was growing up and it's nice that I'm part of this generation. So I feel very honoured and blessed to be in such good company for sure.'
